Description
Raymond Rowe of Phillips, Maine kept this ROCOMBOLE around for a long time, and now many of us in Maine cherish it as an heirloom. Similar to Russian Red in clove number, scape, form, and hardiness. But Phillips Garlic skin is a grey base rather than white, and the rose-purple streaking is much more entire. And Phillips Garlic is capable of huge size; there are regularly some dense 3” + heads in every harvest. The flavor is a little earthier and a little spicier than Russian Red. Maybe cause it was so long in Mane dirt? Again, a hand-me-down from Roberta Bailey of Seven Tree Farm.
